Frequently Asked Questions
Vac-Rac F.A.Q
If you have a query about Vac-Rac product you may find the answers in this F,A,Q. If not send us an email and we will try to answer your questions.
Q. I`d like a Vac Rav but I`am not sure if I should buy the standard vacuum model(Multivac) or the magnetic/vacuum (Combi) model.
A. Don`t buy the magnetic/ vacuum(Combi) model unless you have a steel vehicle to fit them on. Some vehicles are manufactured using fibreglass or aluminium panels (check with your vehicle manufacturer if you are not sure): for these vehicles you will need to fit the vacuum (Multivac) model.
Otherwise it is a matter personal choice. The Combi is newer technology and in tests its unique magnetic and patented vacuum on demand principles will hold a massive 90kg.
Overseas sales of vacuum and magnetic/vacuum models are about the same, in the UK traditionalists prefer the vacuum model which has been in continuous production since 1991.
Q. How do I attach Vac Racs.
A. Very quickly. The instruction are on the box. Always attach Vac Racs to a clean surface to ensure they hold effectively and and do not damage your paint work.
Q. How do I care for my Vac Racs.
A.To keep your Vac Racs clean between uses. For the magnetic/vacuum (Combi) join the bases together
For the vacuum (Multivac) model store in their original box with protective covers attached.
Q. Can I use my Vac Rac for long journeys.
A. Not recommended. Vac Racs are designed for short haul use only. We do not recommend driving at prolonged highway speeds or travelling long distances as your rods and reels may be damaged by insects, debris etc. Make sure all rigging is securely attached to your rod and reel. Thinner rods may flex when travelling over bumps and rough surfaces. This has the potential to cause poorly secured rigging to come loose causing vehicle damage.
Make sure your rods do not protrude over the front of your vehicle as this may be illegal in some states and make sure you mount your Vac Rac and rods in a position that leaves you clear visibility when driving.
Q. How do I mount multiple rods.
A. If you mount multiple rods we recommend that you alternate reels between facing upwards and downwards. Vac Rac shock cords and mounts are so tough that even quiet large reels can be mounted facing upwards and will not move even when travelling over rough country. However we recommend that heavier reels face downwards and lighter reels face upwards. Make sure there is good clearance between reel/handles and your bonnet so that they do not come into contact causing damage to both. You may need to purchase an extension pillar for larger reels depending on the profile of you bonnet and roof line.
Q. Can I leave my Vac Racs attached to my vehicle long term.
A. We don`t recommend that in case they are stolen. Although Vac Racs are built using quality UV resistant plastics and stainless steel they will deteriorate quicker if they are constantly exposed to extreme sun and temperatures. The beauty of this product is that you can quickly remove them and store in a safe place when not in use.
